Organic food makes a wonderful Christmas gift! Not only is thoughtful and nourishing but it is a consumable gift. Unfortunately, Christmas has become such a commercial holiday that families are bombarded with well meaning gifts that just end up filling up closets, attics and garages. Why not give a gift that you know will be used and appreciated. Things to consider when planning organic food gifts for Christmas.

1.Is the gift for someone local that you can personally deliver it to or does your organic food gift need to be mailed.

2. If it needs to be mailed- consider the following:

• Ordering an organic food gift basket online and having it shipped directly to your friend or family member. This will save you shipping costs and reduce your carbon foot print for that gift.
• If you are planning to make up your own Christmas organic food baskets to mail you might want to limit the glass containers and organic food items that are very heavy.
• How perishable are the organic foods you want to send? Do they require you to send the gift overnight or priority mail?

Organic Fruit of the Month Clubs-Fruit of the month clubs are available for all occasions and budgets. Fruit is usually sent monthly, quarterly, or by holiday. Each month features a special organic fruit that is in season that month for the grower. The fruit of the month comes nicely packaged in either a fruit box or fruit basket with a personalized card. Great for any occasion.

Organic cookie exchange parties are not only a fun way to spend quality time with friends and family but also to share recipes and home baked organic goodies.
